Redfish
(also called Red Drum or Channel Bass) are super fun sportfish. They
are quite the challenge. The shallower the water, the more fun it is
to out-last this beautiful fish. Similar to bonefish, redfish spook
easily, so when fishing for redfish it's always best to be extremely
quiet.
- Redfish over 90 pounds have been caught
- They can be are found in fresh water as well as salt water
- The females are larger than the males
- Redfish females of large size produce up to 60 million eggs per
spawn
- Redfish are a bottom feeders
- Redfish hunt by sight as well as by scent
- Redfish feed best at dawn and dusk
- Redfish like water temperatures of 50 - 80 degrees
- Redfish are more active in cooler weather
- Redfish are strong fighters when hooked
- Redfish grow very quickly
- Redfish move into the shallow waters to forage for food, when
they are feeding they will have their tails out of the water, a
great time to start casting
- When Redfish are feeding they are very spooky, so silence is
recommended
